FRANK HISTORY

Not so much lost in translation, as added to. Found in a historical brochure about Tihany, beautiful hilltop town overlooking Lake Balaton. "The name (Pale Hill)...goes back to the time when the soldiers of the fortress impaled the Turks who abducted Hungarian women and screwed the peasantry."

This looks very like Vlad Tepes, alias Dracula, who was noted for impaling his enemies, who included the Turks. I believe both Hungary and Rumania claim him as a national hero because of his victories over the Turks. Other psychopathic national heroes with a keen interest in impaling and other tortures are Ivan the Terrible and Peter the Great (both Russia), not forgetting "good" King Richard Lionheart of England. I suppose it's only a matter of time for Hitler; and Stalin is well on the way already.
